Walmart will go on to call itself BIG in Brazil and predicts investment of R $1.2 BI

The Walmart Brasil Retail network decided to change its brand in the country to Big group, about one year after 80% of its operations were acquired by the investment company Advent. Currently, there are 57 units of the Walmart brand in the country. The company predicts investments of R $1.2 billion in Brazil in the next 18 months for modernization and expansion of its stores, which will have a greater focus on the formats of attack, explored by rivals such as GPA and Carrefour Brazil, and shopping club. The now Big Group currently operates with about 550 stores and 50000 employees in 18 Brazilian states, in addition to the Federal district. The company claims to be the third largest food retail conglomerate in Brazil. "The Walmart hypermarket stores in the south and southeast regions will be called BIG, while in the northeast, all hypermarkets are Big Bomprice," the company said in a press release. "By June 2020, the expectation is to complete the reform of 100 hypermarkets," the company said. The SAM's Club flag will have, in a period of one year, ten new stores, according to the company. The first will be inaugurated at the beginning of this semester and, by the end of the year, three more units will be opened, the company said. "This movement is part of the hypermarket conversion project in MAXXI Wholesale and Sam's Club," the group said.
